Business Planning for Enduring Impact Exec. Summary

Business Planning for Enduring Social Impact gave direction for social ventures to build and business plan and provided a comprehensive layout for writing a business plan. The author illustrated the planning process for enduring social impact in four steps: 1) Planning to Plan, 2) Articulating a Social Impact Model, 3) Developing an Implementation Strategy, and 4) Finalizing Your Business Plan & Putting It into Action.

To understand the direction throughout the book, we have applied the discussed stages and concepts to our new social venture, Crazy Custom Koozies. We will connect the concepts discussed in the book with the plans in place for Crazy Custom Koozies.

Here are the highlights of what we have learned:

Select a business plan working group
A business plan working group is a team to help carry out the business planning process. We have composed our working group of the following people:
Ø Founders of Crazy Custom Koozies – will discuss and make decisions to support the development of the plan
Ø Bob, Kustom Koozies Owner - to provide feedback on drafts of business plan
Ø Professor Anita Leffel- to decide when sections and completed plan are to be shared with others

Developing an Implementation Strategy
Setting a Timeline & Establishing your phase one strategy goals
The timeline generally has two or three phases spanning between three and five years. Phase one constitutes a 12-24 month pilot phase and is used to test the strategies. The phases and goals for Crazy Custom Koozies are indicated below.

Phase One: Pilot
· Use UTSA as a test campus
· Identify and target all student organizations registered at UTSA
· Develop training brochure and incorporate knowledge from classes and professors
· Develop a semester survey for student organizations to evaluate the service and effectiveness of Crazy Custom Koozies

Phase Two: Expand
· Build sales team- hire sales representatives to expand across colleges in San Antonio.
· Hire mangers to supervise sales and training classes for regional areas within San Antonio
· Partner with sponsors will merging missions for student organizations

Phase Three: Scale
· Acquire koozie production and printing materials
· Expand to state-wide sales team
· Hold entrepreneurial seminars open to the public and have student organizations be vendors to promote their mission

Team & Governance

Most organizations being reached now are organizations staff is currently involved in or in close contact with. The current staff will ultimately be responsible for management of administrative operations, hiring sales team, and strategic planning for the growth of Crazy Custom Koozies.

Board: The board will be responsible for evaluating and approving large financial transactions (i.e. acquisitions, expansion equipment purchases, and approval or annual shareholder dividend distribution—if may need be)

Idea---Marketing

So the best ideas sometimes stem from others. Look at the idea below: let's implement for CCK!

"We will aggressively seek out marketing and networking opportunities. We are contacting the Paisano, posting on Craig's List, cold calling small businesses, and posting on roadrunner exchange. Our intention is to get the word out."

Koozie for a Cause

Marketing for a cause or charity is also another good way koozies can be used. We have found that student organizations like the idea of marketing for a cause because they then earn merit points to be a credible organization. Need ideas for social responsibility...think Crazy Custom Koozies!
